Trade Mark Attorney and Office Manager

 

Cherrie is a UK, Irish and European Trade Mark Attorney and advises on all aspects of trade mark law, practise, protection and enforcement in the UK, Ireland, Europe and internationally.

 

Having obtained an honours degree from Sheffield University, Cherrie joined Ansons in 1998 and then qualified as a trade mark attorney in both the UK and Ireland.  She became manager of the Belfast office in 2009.

 

She is a member of the Chartered Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (CITMA) and an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM).

Patent and Trade Mark Attorney

 

Norman advises on all aspects of trade mark law, practice, protection and enforcement in the UK, Ireland, Europe and internationally.

 

Norman is a Past President of the Association of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys in Ireland, a former council member and treasurer-general of the European Communities Trade Mark Association (ECTA), a Fellow of both the Chartered Institute of Patent Agents (CIPA) and the Chartered Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (CITMA), and a member of other national and international associations of intellectual property practitioners, including FICPI, AIPPI and INTA.

Bernadette advises on all aspects of trade mark law, practice, protection and enforcement in the UK, Ireland, Europe and internationally and has a special interest in Domain Name protection and dispute resolution.

 

Bernadette is a member of the Irish Association of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys and is active in INTA, where she has served on numerous committees. She is currently a serving member of INTA’s programs committee and has contributed to the INTA Trade Marks Bulletin.  Bernadette joined the firm in 1977 from the Civil Service and qualified as a trade mark attorney in 1982. Bernadette was appointed managing director in 2010.  She stood down from that role in January 2015 and is now a consultant to the firm.

Cliff advises on all aspects of trade mark law, practice, protection and enforcement in the UK, Ireland, Europe and internationally.

 

He qualified as a Barrister in 1977, having graduated from Trinity College, Dublin in 1976, with a B.A. (Mod) degree in Legal Science and in 1981 was awarded a Master of Arts degree by Trinity College.

 

Cliff is a Member of the Chartered Institue of Trade Mark Attorneys (CITMA).  He is also currently a Member of the Executive Committee of The Irish Association of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys and was President of that organisation from 2001-2004.

 

In the 2014 edition of WTR (World Trademark Review 1000), it was stated that “Irish Attorneys have a great deal of respect for the trusted and highly intelligent Cliff Kennedy”.

Denis is one of our technology experts, specialising in engineering, materials science and computer technology.  He has considerable experience before the European Patent Office and the Boards of Appeal, including conducting oral proceedings at all levels of the European Patent Office.

 

Denis is a Past President of the Association of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys, a council member of the European Patent Institute, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys and a member of FICPI, AIPPI, UNION and LES.

Carla advises on all aspects of trade mark law, practice, protection and enforcement in the UK, Ireland, Europe and internationally.

 

Having graduated from the Accountancy & Business College, Dublin, with a diploma in marketing, Carla qualified as a trade mark attorney in 1992.  She is a member of the Irish Association of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys.

European Patent and Design Attorney

 

Isabel specialises in advising companies and individuals in obtaining and enforcing patents across varied technology sectors, especially pharmaceuticals, medical devices and mechanical engineering.  She also helps to identify, protect and exploit designs in the UK, Ireland and Europe, often providing strategic advice regarding the infringement and validity of patents and designs.  Her clients range from individual inventors through to start-ups, SMEs and large international and multinational corporations.

 

Isabel is a European Patent Attorney, Chartered Patent Attorney and a registered Irish Patent Attorney as well as an IP Litigator.  Before joining the firm in 2012, she worked in Oxford with a UK firm for several years, having completed a Ph.D. in Chemistry at Trinity College Dublin, where she was also elected to Scholarship and awarded a 1st class honours degree in Natural Sciences (specialising in Chemistry).

 

Fluent in German, Isabel holds both the Postgraduate Certificate in Intellectual Property Law from Brunel University and the Intellectual Property Litigation Certificate from the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA).  She is a member of the European Patent Institute and UNION-IP, a Fellow of CIPA and an associate member of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC).

Joined the firm in 2008, having gained many years of financial experience in the manufacturing, retail and printing industries. Graduated from UCD in 1993 with a BComm degree. Qualified as an accountant in 1997. Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland. Associate of the Irish Taxation Institute.

Nikolaos Minas

European Patent Attorney

 

Nikos is an expert at helping companies identify, protect and exploit their innovations. He has extensive experience in the development and management of optimised patent portfolios for a diverse range of clients ranging from independent inventors to large international corporations. Nikos specialises in drafting and prosecuting patent applications in the technical fields of computer software, electronics, semiconductor manufacturing, physics and mechanics. He regularly advises businesses on IP infringement issues, competitors’ patent portfolios analysis, and IP due diligence. Nikos also has considerable experience in advising companies on the implementation of best practices for qualifying for the Corporate Tax relief under the different Patent (Knowledge Development) box schemes across Europe.

 

A European Patent Attorney, Nikos joined the firm in 2017, having previously worked for over 9 years in Belgium in both R&D and IP related roles. He has a PhD and Masters in Microelectronics from Newcastle University (UK), and a Bachelor in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Portsmouth University (UK). He is the author of a number of highly regarded peer review publications in the field of microelectronics and semiconductor manufacturing, and a mentioned inventor in two granted patents.  

 

Nikos has considerable experience in representing his clients before the European Patent Office and the Boards of Appeal and has conducted oral proceedings at all levels of the European Patent Office. Nikos is fluent in both English and Greek and has some knowledge of Dutch from the time he spent in Belgium.
